About Me

I am 63 years old and in better shape than I was for much of my life. After taking back my own health after 50, I ran my first half-marathon 2 weeks before my 60th birthday and another one, 2 weeks after I turned 60, despite not having become a runner until several years earlier. I never thought that was possible, but I am here to tell you, that with accountability & consistency, you are capable of much more than you might think!

I am a NASM Certified Personal Trainer, Senior Fitness Specialist & Certified Nutrition Coach, with almost 10 years of experience in the health & wellness field. The majority of my clients range in age from in their 50’s to 80’s, but I have & will work with clients of any age. Many people are living longer lives, but are spending their “golden years” feeling lousy & juggling all kinds of health issues. I’ve watched it happen to my parents’ generation and, sadly, I started heading in that direction myself when I was first experiencing menopause.

The stress of life, along with poor nutrition choices & lack of exercise, also attributed to my developing leaky gut syndrome, as well as gaining weight until I was over 200 pounds. I lost 60 pounds in a slow & steady, flexible approach that I now teach to my clients, without eliminating entire food groups & without counting calories or feeling deprived of foods I enjoy eating. My gut, and as a result, my mental health, are healthier than they have ever been.

Getting older can be very difficult, but much of what we associate with aging we CAN do something about. It definitely helps to make healthy changes in routines earlier in life, but it is never too late to start! I am living proof. So, whether you know me as Ellen, or call me Mel (my preferred nickname), I would love to work with you to help you feel strong & confident in your body to live a longer HEALTHIER life!
